Zambian Artisans

Zambias strength is in its wooden, stone and marble goods. They are very beautiful masks and bowls and stone statues available in the market that would do very well abroad. But then there is the added cost of shipping wich has jumped from 35,000 to 90,000 and an additional fee of 49,000 per kg! I have had to cut out many goods because of the costs. I am working with an artisan from Kabwata Village who has 5 children and two orphans and she has been working at the village for 5 years now. All proceeds from the sale of these goods go to Give Hope Fight Poverty

Paper tiger is a literal English translation of the Chinese phrase zhǐlǎohǔ (simplified Chinese: 纸老虎; traditional Chinese: 紙老虎), meaning something that seems as threatening as a tiger, but is really harmless. This Chinese colloquialism is similar to the English phrase "its bark is worse than its bite".
